What year 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke

Trying to find out the year of this motor that came on my boat so i can get parts.

FT9.9EXD 6G8 783976

Runs like a top exept for water flow, looks like the head and chambers are packed with salt on the upper chamber.
Easy to change out the head gasket to remove salt buildup?

There should be a letter in the lower right corner of the lable that tells you the year its produced.
