I have a 70 H.P Johnson and my serial number is as follows: E70RLCNB (same as yours except the 70 H.P.) and I have paper work from my purchase that it is model year 1982, so I would have to say yours is a 1982 as well.

I just went on the NADA listings to see what is available on your motor, and yes, there is a Johnson outboard, 55 horse power that was manufactured in 1982. Just FYI, today's value on that motor is as follows: Low retail = $740.00 Average retail = $830.00. Low retail is a motor that was left out in the elements, and has major blemishes on it and needs some work to get it going properly. Average retail is a motor that looks pretty good, may need some minor cosmetic work and maybe a slight tune up so it runs well. Anyway, your motor is a 1982.
