What year is my 4.5 Mercury?????

I just bought a used boat with a 4.5 Mercury on it. Serial #A170394. Does anyone know the year, the value, & what ratio I need to mix the fuel at?

I've noticed there are alot of "What Year" questions on here. Why dont they make it simple to find?

Call your local authorized merc dealer and talk with there senior parts man or parts manager. Give him the number and he can tell you what year it is. He can also tell you what if any repairs where done when the motor was under warranty.

Because either your serial number or year is wrong they don't match anything in mercurys model year guide or several other serial number guides I have cked.

Thats the exact # on the tag. I ordered an impeller & he said there should be an "O" in the front(????????)
