I have a Sears 12ft. aluminum open V-hull. I'm wondering what year it was made. The model number is 581-61102-0, serial number is 1S27F557. Is there any way to determine the year from this info??? It appears to be early or mid 1960's perhaps. Thanks!!!

57

typically how it works is

1s2 the model 12' sears

7 whatever decade, and 7 ie 57, 67, 77, 87

F5 month and day january = 1, so f= june 5 = the fith, 15, or 25

57 is the year again

this is a guess by the way, that is how the boats I have dealt with (more modern) pan out

Re: What year is my boat???

Thanks for the quick reply Boat Doc!!! I shoulda' mentioned the "557" at the end of the S/N is stamped, the 1S27F portion of the S/N is printed (painted). That would sorta' lead me to believe that the 557 is a sequence number, as in the 557th boat of this type built that year??? Wow, could it really be a 1957 boat??? Did they even make boats out of aluminum way back in '57?? My '56 Evinrude 10hp looks like it "belongs" on the back of this boat!! Thanks again!!
