Re: What year is my johnson seahorse?

Welcome to Iboats, aj:
Runs great!
Of course it does, it's probably the best small engine ever built! The same basic design was offered by Johnson and Evinrude beween the very early 50's and the mid 80's. By that point they had tricked 4.5hp out of it.
Johnson JW-13
Year: 1957
HP: 3
WOT RPMS: 4000
Displacement 5.28 cu.in. = 86.5 ccm
Cylinders: 2
Weight: 32 lbs. = 14.5 Kg
Prop (stock): 6 1/8 x 6 1/4 , 2 blade
Gear ratio: 17:28
Spark plugs: Champion J6C gapped at .030" (J6J has been replaced with J6C)
Fuel/Oil mix: 24:1 87 octane gas to TC-W3 rated outboard oil.
Lower unit oil: OMC/BRP 'HiVis' or off the shelf SAE 80/90W outboard gearcase oil.

From the Old OMC Site

3hp Tune Up guide.

There ought to be a fuel filter hidden up inside the tank. Remove the large brass nut above the fuel petcock to find it. A lot of people don't know it's there.

What's it worth? I guess that depends on what market your in. Usually not much, and certainly not antique prices. Round here it'd probably go for around $300+ (CDN). I'm sure at this moment the Floridians reading this are calculating shipping prices to here now though. :)
Down around there, I'd guess $100-$200 USD?
