What year is my Mariner 75 hp ???

I have a 3-cylinder 75 hp Mariner. Supposed to be about a 1990 boat/ motor. The O&M book is printed 1988. Dealer couldn't give me a year. I would like to get a repair manual for it but the manual covers up to year 1989. Then a different manual for 1990 and newer. Can anyone tell me what year this is?

The serial number is OC189197 and the model # is 7075D129D (according to the dealer).

Where do you find that out, the dealer couldn't even answer me ??
So I should get the 1990 and newer book? I wonder why they O&M manual that came with it is 1988.
Another question, how do I tell if the motor is mounted too high? According to the manual the ventilation plate should be below the bottom of the boat 1 1/2". It is slighty above. But I noticed the motor has been moved up 2 bolt holes. Where it was before looks close to what the manual says.

As long as the engine don't get cavitaton in high speed turns it will be fine. The higher you can run a engine the better the performance. The serial number info came off Mercury Dealer Build sheet SIS 1050 1-991 dated Aug. 29 1991, What kind of dealer were you at?

I'm also having the same problems as I recently purchased a 1988 Procraft bass boat with a 75hp Mariner engine with serial number OB219180 but can't find the correct year on different links from the forum. I would also like to know what type of oil, gas, etc. I should be using to protect and maintain the engine and any other performance issues that I should be aware of. I've had it out once on the water and other than being cold natured it ran well after just a bit of warming up. I would appreciate any info that I receive in that I am a new boat owner. Thanks

You sure? I read it as a 1989 model. The 1990 started at C221500.

TNCOG, your motor is a 1988 model. Best to start a new thread with your other questions.

What is this, some kind of a joke? You say that you have an 75 Mariner, then ask what year it is, or, do you mean a 75HP Mariner? Might also be a 1975 motor by the looks of the serial #.

common sense would tell that i wouldn't ask the question if i already new the answer....now that being said, i found out yesterday from the dealer that it is a 1990....
