What year is my Mercury Outboard 40 hp?

I am trying to figure out the year of my Mercury outboard 40 hp. The serial number is 6085272.

What boat are you using her on?

1982 is the year for that 40hp.

Turns out it is a 1986 motor. Checked the serial number online and confirmed it with a local marine store.
