What year is my outboard?

After minutes of research I finally found my serial number 06005802. My outboard is a Black Max 225hp(or so says the cowling decals). What year is my motor? My prop spins CCW which I am told is unusual.Is that true? Is my motor fuel injected with carbs? Can it be both? My boat is an 89 as verified by the hull vin but the motor is harder to id. Thanks

If it is a 225hp, then it looks like is a 1981. They stopped making 225hp between 81-93, at least that is the info here a www.maxrules.com<br /><br />- The motor is counter-rotation and most likely came off a boat that had a pair of twins. If it's an 81' it is most likely a carbed model (I don't think EFI's were out yet). Looking under the cowl you can tell if it is EFI or not.<br /><br />Did you just get the boat/engine?

I misread the serial no. The 06 is really an 0G and a dealer says it's a 1994 225 CXL but I'm researching to be sure.
