OK I picked this one up on the west coast for 200 bucks
I know it`s a starchief but what year
67-70 is my guess
18 feet 4 inches
will look nice beside the V-5 Holiday

Hello. Nice score on the Chief! Someone who knows more is bound to chime in, but looking at the splashwell it is definitely later than '67. My '67 doesn't have those "boxes" on each side of the splashwell, I have seen those on later ones. You may be able to tell from the brochures in the Starcraft brochures thread, if you haven't checked it out yet.

Nice score indeed. Its identical to my 1974 18' 4" Chieftan in every way except for the side louvers. I had vents on the gunwales.

MichaelP it sure looks like your 74
the louvers I think are an after thought
the triangle windows in the flying bridge are two part
on yours. one part on mine
you have done a beautiful job on yours
I am missing a few pieces
end caps on rub rails
bottom starboard window cap (cabin)
hulls in great shape just years of repaint
paint stripper or sand blast

There are all kinds of subtle differences on these things. I don't doubt yours is in the range you mentioned but I have a hard time telling. Keep an eye on the Starcraft Parts thread, all kinds of goodies show up there. I'll be posting up my extra parts sometime.

I am also missing the front hatch cover.
Just might have to make one.
If any one has some good pics and they would make some
measurements that would help.
With all the knowledge out there can you guys not
narrow down the year of this old girl.

You probably already looked, but does the hull number help? My Chief's hull number was on the outside of the transom and was 73_blah, blah, blah.... as I understand it, SC always had the year aa the first 2 numbers
