What year is this motor and who built it, Yamaha or Mercury?

OK fellows with the wisdom & knowledge what year is this motor and who built it, Yamaha or Mercury?

I have been told it?s a Mercury serial number.

The guy I bought the motor from told me it?s a Yamaha, when I pulled the rope start there was a Yamaha sticker on the motor case.

Six of one, a half dozen of another ?..Go figure

Looks like a 1986, 25HP made by Merc.

This motor was never registered thru mercury, but this is what I could get off there site.
