I bought this boat for next to nothing.

It's a Marlin 500, but that is all I know.

Can anyone tell me anything about this boat? Year? Who made it? Good or bad?? ETC................

I'm interested in anything anyone knows about these boats.

I've attached a pic of the boat and of the tag.

Thank you!!

Wouldn't everything except the "good or bad" part be on the title or bill of sale?

What I meant by that was, was it a good boat in its day etc.....I'm aware of the condition it's currently in.

There were literally HUNDREDS of companies making little fiberglass runabouts just like that in the 50s/60s, some only making a handful of boats. So chances aren't real good that anyone on here has one like yours or even heard of it. They're pretty much all the same though. Will be a head-turned fixed up, but won't likely be a collectors item. Parts will be more difficult to find for that Chrysler motor than it would be for a comparable Johnson/Evinrude/Mercury.

Re: What year/make is my boat?

Thanks for that esmo. I never thought of it as a collector's item at all. I want to USE it.
Just trying to determine how much work it's going to be to get it into safe running order. I got the trailer, boat and motor for $100. To me it felt like I couldn't lose on that deal. Hopefully I'm right. By getting it so cheap, I can afford to put some money into it. I don't have a few thousand dollars to drop at once, so this was my best option.
As far as the Chrysler motor goes........I'm finding it not too bad to find parts so far. I actually found a second motor 2 days after I got this one. Paid $75 for it. So, all in all, I'm hoping I can get a motor out of the two.

Thanks for your input!!
