i thought my 40hp. johnson was a 1972 but i'm starting to wounder the model # is j40elcd and the serial # is 67099677 can anyone help

Um, you got too many numbers in that serial number?? I don't think they've ever hit the 67 million mark.

Models numbers: Code word INTRODUCES
I = 1
N = 2
T = 3
R = 4
And so on.----
