what year ??

Hi all.
My dad bougth a 90`s something johnson 30hp.

How can i find out the year , when the id tag on the steering bracket its gone???
Is there somewhere on the motor a id number ??

The model number may be on a core plug on the engine.

You are looking for a number containing J30, perhaps preceeded by a prefix letter, followed by a sequence of letter that define the model and including two letters that give the year. One of which will be an E for 9.

im not sure if i know what you meen here. core plug? is it the enigine block ?? my english isnt that good.

Yes on the engine somewhere. I dont know where on that model.
A disc about the size of a US quarter dollar so a bit less than 1 inch or 2.5cm diameter.
