What years of Mercuiser 3.0 are interchangable?

I may be needing to find a shortblock for my '86 140 hp.

I think '90 and down had a 2 piece rear main, and '91 and up was a one piece.

what else do I need to be aware of?

Ayuh,... I think you're Right,... That's the Biggest stumbling block,...

They'll All interchange with varying degrees of Difficulty....
