I picked up a mercury today the cover says it's a 402 and the serial number is 2301454, I haved tried to look it up on a couple different sites but can't find this serial number anywhere.. what year is this?

The earlest serial number for 402 engines was 2880154 in Canada in 1970 could your 2nd digit be a 8 not a 3
