Still troubleshooting why my drive won't go up or down, testing and cleaning connections. I pulled the trim limit connectors apart and cleaned the male ends and can see some light corrosion in the female ends, but how the heck do I get anything in there to clean it? Q tip with something on it like WD 40? Too small to get emery cloth in there, but I guess I could roll a piece real tight and try that. What, if anything, should I coat the connectors with when I hook them back up? I know you pros gotta have some tips for this one!

LOL I think it is not in bold because it is one you have viewed already since you posted it. But I use a paper clip with a tight bend in the end to stick in and scrape it clean. Then I put Dielectric grease on them. Seems to work good on my trailer connector anyway, but is same principal connector.

Thanks, I will try that. But now I see my post is in bold and most of the other ones are not, like it reversed! Guess I shouldn't worry about stuff like that, I got bigger problems! Like first river trip of the year coming up in 2 weeks and a drive that won't go down...:(

Have you tested the trim motor itself using jumpers to the blue(up) and green(down) leads on the motor?

Re: Whats a good way to clean inside corroded trim limit connectors?

I have the unit out of the boat and am cleaning and tightening things up and am gonna put it back in tomorrow and recheck everything again. I did jump the motor and it made a noise but I'm not sure its good now that I think about it, I was kinda flustered about my stiuation and wasn't thinking clearly, kind of in a mild panic mode since I got a trip coming up. When I jump the motor, and I will jump the down/green wire since the drive is now up, the drive should come down and should sound normal right? I don't think it did that first time I checked that, think it just made a noise like something was happening but not normal operation. I'm not suspecting the motor cuz it is only a year and a half old. My switches check out good, but get no clicks from the solenoids. Back on it tomorrow...
