What's in a carb kit?

I have a 3.0 HP Sears Gamefisher (made by Tanaka). I've downloaded Tanaka's parts guide, but they don't list a carb rebuild kit (though they do carry all the parts). I'm not smart enough to know what parts comprise a carb rebuild kit so I can purchase them individually - any help?

Thanks,
Russ

If so equipped......

Things like diaphragm(s) and the inlet needle valve.

Other things to consider are if it has a fuel filter somewhere, and a small fuel pump would be considerations.

On some small two stroke motors like weed eaters and such ( as I categorize Tanaka) it may be best to buy the carb complete and not try messing with it as the passageways needing attention can be microscopic. And it doesn't take much to plug one.

Re: What's in a carb kit?

Thanks for the reply.

the motor runs well, but I notice fuel dripping (slowly) from the bottom of the float. I suspect either a leaking gasket, or perhaps a leaking float needle.

I've never rebuilt a carb, so I'm a novice. Do you think if I just replace the bowl gasket, float needle and seat, I might be OK?

Complete Carb costs $80 (which is what I paid for the motor), so I'd rather not spring for that right off the bat.

Thanks,
Russ

Yep, that sounds like what I'd try.

Sometimes it may just be a bit of debris caught up in the needle seat. But if the part is redily available why not just change it.
