ok my father inlaw is looking at a 76 glasstron T178 starlte maybe 16 ft with a 150 mec v6 black max on motor runs and boat it a B+ condition so any thoughts that it might be worh more that 1500 bucks oh it has been in salt water

sounds like a fair price, as long as transom is in good condition, and trailer is not too rusted.
raise the motor up, and push up and down on the end of it, and see how much the transom moves

150 is a lot on a 16 ft. those were known for transoms rotting.

Yeah a '70s Glastron, unless it was meticulously maintained or already rebuild has probably got some rot in it.

that for all the input will be rechecking boat out this evening and seeing if the guy wil take 1200 for it

In the last 6 months I have had two 70's glasstrons. One I paid $300 for in good running condition, solid hull but nasty interior. It had a 65hp merc. The other I paid $400 for and it is mint inside and out. It has a 85hp merc. That is a lot of engine for that boat. My friend has one with a 120hp rude and I thought that was a lot. I think you would be ok around $1200 if everything checks out but only if everything is in perfect working order.
