whats the best engine?

i'm looking for a 25 / 30hp engine between 5 and 10 yrs old. whats the best and what to avoid?

Hi, Tazzy.<br /><br />Tough Question. Most folk love their small/medium engines.<br /><br />Avoid all except: Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Tohatsu.<br /><br />All of the above are very good engines if they have been well cared for.<br /><br />Good luck.

JB, you missed mariner and nissan. Nothing wrong with either (Mariner is a merc and nissan is a tohatsu).<br />
