Re: What's the best marine battery???
I haven't found any marine battery that outperforms the Wal Mart Everstart Marine Maxx dual purpose. That's the big one with the yellow top.
I am sure you can pay a lot more and not get any better service.
i agree 100% jb
i had to replace both batterys on our boat and looked at the optimas and di-hards. for the difference in price i could by the group 29 everstart with a 14 month free replacment and 875 cc amps.if the warrenty wasnt any good, we could still by 2 each year and have fresh batterys and save money. anything over a year and i'm into bonus savings. at this rate i would have to get 3 years minimum form the optimas to break even and they were less amp hr. batterys to boot.
i was concerned that the deep cycle might not work for a starting battery but wanted two house batterys anyway so i started with the two D-Cycles with the idea of adding a starting battery if needed and using the DC's in parallel.
well i did switch to two of them in parallel for house batterys but only after i bought an other for a starting battery as with 875 cc amps i never could tell the difference between these and a starting battery. bear in mind i' cranking a BB chev and if any motor is going to have probs it that one.
now i can run my house batterys down and switch to my starting battery and run it down to 11 volts, as low as i have tried up to now, and have had plenty of amps left to start my motor. this gives us 3 days on the hook with out need for starting to recharge if we want to
we tend to use our boat for 1 to 4 weeks steady then park for 2 or 3 months and not touch it
if you want the cheapest amp hours you can get and want to use a deep cycle for starting and house batterys i would recomend this set up to you
