I need a new trolling motor for my bass boat the motor I have currently is crapping out on me. I currently have a 55lb Motorguild 24v. I have noticed there are 12v 55lb trolling motors out there.

What would be the difference between a 55lb 12 motor using 2 batteries and a 55lb motor set up for 24v.

The higher the voltage, the less amps it will draw. You will have better battery life with the 24v motor. If your already carrying two batteries for the trolling motor, your better off going 24v.

I do have 2 batteries hooked up for 24v currently. I was looking at a couple 12v on craigslist that were priced nicely. so I was thinking about going to 12v to save money. So I figured there has got to be pros and cons of both.
