What's the expected life of a 2000 Ficht?

I have a 200HP 2000 ficht that I try to keep in good shape (regular decarb, always flushing, Startron in the gas) and proper winterization. I run 100% in saltwater during May-November on Long Island Sound primarily fishing (not much slow trolling), mostly running from spot to spot then drift with motor off. I've currently got just over 700 hours on the motor (bought it with 300hrs) and I've already had the EMM rebuilt. Assuming I keep up with the routine maintenance, what can I expect for the life of this motor running in these conditions?

That would really be hard to say. Just keep up your maint. and go for it. They did have a bad reputation, but who knows ?

By 2000, Bombardier had taken over ownership of the old OMC business. They supervised manufacture of solid products. Your 200 hp engine was a big block 90 degree version-it has had a stellar reputation. Certainly much, much better than the 60 degree fichts made under the old OMC brand.

Other than a couple of electrical issues, I've had nothing major go wrong so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
