hi everyone i have an 87 19ft larson and on the bottom of the hull there is a "protective coating." the previous owner said he kept the boat in a slip and thats why he put it on there. it sits at about the water line. I see in on sailboats alot. The picture attached isnt my boat but is the same boat and has the same coating on it. What is that coating and where can i get it? Its coming off on mine and id like to redo it.

It is called bottom paint. The type you will need depends on several factors. These include fresh or salt water, is it stored primarily on the trailer or in the water.

this would be a fresh water application. I looked it up and looks like there are a lot of different choices, antifouling? Ablative? what do these all mean? Also How would you apply these while the boat is on the trailer? Im assuming just place a floor jack under the back of the boat and lift it off the trailer rollers. any suggestions? thanks so much

ya the boat will be on a its trailor all through winter storage and on a boat lift most of the summer. i mainly want to redo the bottom paint for costmetic reasons. A lot of it is rubbing off and it looks terrible. So go with the first option you mentioned?

If the boat does not sit in the water, you DO NOT need ablative bottom paint. You just need to restore the color.

That's easy, sand off the old stuff (WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR) and repaint to the color of choice.

yes the micron 66 is the least expensive option and will last several seasons and still provide protection when you do leave it in for a while.

I think thats what I already said.
