Whats the trick to removing the pivot rod, that the rod and eye from the tilt unit connect to?? I have tried a slide hammer and also put a 7/16" bolt on the other side and tried to beat it out Any tricks of the trade you care to share<br /><br />Oh 96 johnson 50HP

Use a hand held propane torch with a blow torch tip to heat the aluminum that surrounds the pin.

I've sometimes pulled the the motor off the boat and split the 2 transom mount brackets to get the pivot pin out. They can be tough.

I use a BFH and oxyacetylene.<br /> they can be a bear

Thanks guys. The heat definately helped. Still needed the BFH and a couple of beers It still was a pain in the a$$
