I just bought a 2002 Sea Pro SV1700 with a Suzuki 70 HP four stroke on it. After getting it home and in the course of cleaning it up from the trip, I noticed a small hole aprox 1/8" in diameter in the leading edge of the lower drive case in the Suzuki outboard. The hole actually looks like it was manufactured into a slot in the aluminum case, but the paint around it looks like it has been hit.

My Suzuki "owners manual" doesn't show it at all. A shop manual that I bought doesn't show it but does have a small screw and washer located near by in the drawing.

Do I have a problem here that I should have a Suzuki dealer look at before I get it wet for the first time in the spring ?? Please advise...........

A lot engines now have additional water pickups on the nose of the bullet, if it is a water pickup, you need to put a piece of tape over it when you run it on a flush hose
