whats this hose?

I have a 1995 175 hp mercury blackmax and I noticed there is a black 1/8 inch hose with quicksilver writen on it. It is on the lower unit between the transom. Could this be the speedometer? By the way that dont work either.

That should the speedometer hose, which comes off a nipple in front of the gear shift shaft, on the lower unit. Run it to you speedo....

You can flush the hose and the nipple with air to help clear it... Just disconnect both ends first...
