What's this thing called? Might need to order a new one since it's got a short in it

The main red wire harness from the back of the ignition key to the main wire harness that goes into the boat and out to the motor? Everything I've seen is for the motor's side. I need the ignition side. Mine is shorting out and doesn't allow my motor to turn off when I turn the key to off. I literally have to remove the engine cover and short the wire to ground to turn off the engine.

Engine is a J130TLEDM 1996 Model Johnson 130HP

You've ruled out a bad key switch?

Do you have a Man Overboard Kill Switch and if so, is it working?

Forgot to mention I've replaced the Key Switch with a new one and the man overboard kill switch is bypassed (which I need to reconnect once this issue gets fixed).

Reconnect the kill switch and see if it kills the motor. The kill switch wire and the stop connection on the key switch are tied together. If the kill switch stops the motor your boat-side harness is fine and the key switch or key switch wiring is the problem.

Why did you replace the key switch?
