After troubleshooting my 9.8 to a replacement coil, I ordered it through iboats. Problem is it does not appear to be the correct coil. The nice gal I spoke to said they looked it up and it was the correct one for my serial number. Here they are side by side. The new one has a rectangular hole where the original had a square hole. Is this right? Force it? File it? Thoughts??

Makes me wonder if you have the original stator.

I guess that is possible that the stator is not the original. Who knows how many people have owned this thing. I wonder if the part I received could be the wrong one. But I'll bet it can't be used though huh??

Is there a part number stamped on the coil body?

If so, post it.

Not that I can see. I will just call iboats tomorrow and see what I need to do to return it. If they can't get the right one I already found another site that does have it. The picture on their site looks exactly like the one I took off the motor but I will call just like I did here to verify.
