I've done a search on batteries and didn't find to many brands mentioned, just battery maintanence. I'm going to replace my deep cycle's this weekend and was wondering what brands you guy's preffered. I have diehards in now and they DIED-HARD, this is their 3rd season. My neighbor works for Excide and he recommended the Stowaway which is a GNB product. I've heard some discussion about the Optima and was looking at their new Troll Fury. What are your words of wisdom? I don't want maintanence talk just brands and how many years they worked.

I don't think I want to go with Diehard. Your right, the Optima's are big bucks. I think the Troll Fury is 350 but that is basically two batteries. As far as Excide, their not going anywhere. They filed for re-structuring and my neighbor assured me their warranty is as good as ever. He's the head traffic manager for their Carol Stream location. How long did your Diehards last? Is three years good service out of a deep cycle or should I be getting longer?

I use Interstate for both my starting and trolling motor batteries.
Have been selling then at marinas where I have worked for over 10 years, very few problems and warranty service is good.

I run deep cycle batteries in floor scrubbers.
These machines are pretty much ignored and abused
Had a lot of premature failures with Excide.
Now use Trojan and Deka with excellent results. We get our batteries from a local battery wholesaler. I think the Minnkota site has battery info. Also the solar sites do some pretty serious
Battery talk. Spike

3 years is completely obtainable. The most important thing is keeping them charged and charged correctly. The charger is more important than the batteries.

Well, just to inform you guy's, I went with the 27 Stowaway's. 105 amp hours and 180 reserve capacity at $65 each. If these don't work out to well I think I will try the Voyager's next, because of all the reccommendations. Any opinion's on the stowaway's. Somebody had a slogan just like the DIE_hard's ; the THROW-away's. Hopefully this is not the case.
