DO NOT use that $H!T, that stuff is sticky forever and as far as I can tell promotes corrosion.
The one I found to work the best up here (180" of rain a year and plenty of salt water) is the Volvo corrosion guard. PN 3620002.
It's kind of a pain to use. But if you put the can in some hot water for a few minutes it sprays a nice layer of blue oil that looks like heII all over everything. Then it changes in a couple of day to thin film that really keeps the engines safe from moisture and condenstation.
I sure wouldn't use silicone. Once you do, you can NEVER repaint it. All you will get is fisheyes.
WD40 doesn't prevent corrosion, it just disapates moisture.

I HATE THIS %#&%$@ FORUM SOFTWARE
Spend time putting a thread together, then htt the post button and you get a blank post after 45 seconds of waiting.
If this was the first time it would be different ..... GRRRRRRR

Anyway DO NOT use that Quicksilver $H!T, it's sticky for ever and causes corrosion.
Here with 180"+ of rain a year and salt water boating, the Volvo corrosion guard works best.
It's pn is 3620002
Looks bad when you first put it on, but after a couple of days you can't see it and it really protects.
Silicone I would never use. You can now NEVER repaint your engine because all you will get is fisheyes.
WD stops moisture, but doesn't prevent corrosion.

Anyway DO NOT use that Quicksilver garbage, it's sticky forever and from my experience, promotes corrosion.

I'm on DSL, have been for a couple of years, this is the only site with the slow problem. Everywhere else is great.
But, I've been told that everything was fine here, so I guess it's all just my imagination.

I use Fluid Film with decent sucess. nice thing about saltwater is the job security.
I have had DSL for about 4 years now and sometimes this site gets slower than my old 28K dialup :):).
I use the silicone spray for all the electrical connections under the helm and such.
to many folks pay all the attention to the enine and none to the hull systems only to find broken hull systems come spring.
last marina I worked at had check off sheets for all hull functions as well as engine points of winterization. system worked well.

Re: what's your favorit corrosion blocker?

I have done significant testing with corrosion preventive compounds on aircraft. The LPS-3 waxy film (similar in finish to Boeshield T-9) is far superior to any other products. The best waxy film by far in producing a smooth finish is the Cor-Ban 22 from Zip-Chem Products because it uses Halon 134A as a propellant in lieu of CO2. The LPS-3 can be purchased through Granger or Ace Hardware. The Cor-Ban 22 can be purchased only off the web. Just do a google search for Zip-Chem Products.

Remember as Don states, this stuff must be removed using mineral spirits prior to repainting. I just use the 3M wax/cleaning compound on outdrive each winterization to clean off and reapply the LPS-3. Outdrive looks as good as new after 3 years.

I have done flight line fence testing on bare steel coupons with LPS-3 and Cor-Ban 22 with NO corrosion to date. Great stuff.

WD-40 is water displacing with no corrosion guard.

Sorry for long response, but this is something I felt I could actually provide a response to.
