Whats your method for filling up your tank?

New boat owner. Just had to drain about 10 gallons of old cruddy gas from my 20 gallon tank. Now I'm faced with the challenge of filling the tank with 20 gallons of mixed gas to fuel the outboard.

I'm assuming I can't just put in some gas, then add the oil, then add the rest of the gas hoping for a good mix. So what do you guys do? Get a few 5 gal. cans filled and mixed and then add it by hand? That seems like it would be a pain in the ***. Any advice?

That's what I typically do. Either that or if I know my 12 gallon tank is empty, I'll put enough oil in for 10 gallons and pump 10 gallons into it.

So it would be ok to put the oil in and pump on top of it to mix it? Sorry if its a dumb question, I just figured it wouldn't mix in as well as it would if agitating by hand.

Another question:
I've heard to avoid gas with Ethanol. That seems to be all I have available around here. Would using a good gas with 10% ethanol be OK if I used it up in a weekend or two?

Oil and gas mix really quick. This really isn't an issue.

Do not worry about the ethanol especially if it won't be stored for more than a couple weeks. If it will be stored, use a quality stabilizer like Stabil.

put in a pint; put in 6 gallons; repeat. If you think you are getting to the top, a half pint then 3 gallons. Better to have slightly more oil, so that's why you addit first. No harm will come if the ratio is off a little.
I've never had a problem with gas and oil mixing; it just does, dumping it in.
Don't worry about E-10 as long as you keep it fresh, and treat it with startron/stabil ( a hotly debated point around here).
