I found a used Monterey 214FS for sale. I talked with the boat broker today and he said it is in excellent condition. I'll have time next weekend to go look at it. I've never even looked at a Monterey before. There aren't any dealers near me and I can't remember ever seeing one on the bay. Would those who own or have owned a Monterey boat please let me know what you think of them? In addition, anyone who has a 214FS, please feel free to comment on it. Thanks for your help.

We just purchased a 256 and was only on it once before the season ended. We loved it and can't wait for spring.

Can't wait to see other peoples responses.

I do not own a Monterey, but our boating partners do. I have spent almost as much time on it as my Rinker.
He bought his a couple years ago. It is a 98, montura. It was not exactly babied by the PO. That being said it is still solid as a rock. Floor is good transom is good, all pieces still attatched. Rides great, and planes quickly.
That is all the expierence I have with them other than a few I see around. But if his is any indication of their build quality yours should be good if it was taken care of.

Really it doesnt matter the brand for the most part, it is how they were taken care of.
Good Luck

Brother-in-law has a 2011 260 SCR. Beautiful boat. I almost bought one but was out of my price range.

We have a 282CR that we bought last spring. Came from a Four Winns before that. We are very pleased with our Monterey. I looked at all the boat brands available in a 28 to 34 ft. Express, and the Monterey was as well built as any, and had more features, attention to detail, quality materials (like SS thru hulls, grab rails etc.) and was more affordable. You will not be disappointed if you buy the 214.
