Trying to simplify search and cost for 14" spare trailer rim. Going to ck out the local auto salvage yard. Does anyone know which car manuf typically uses a 5 lug 4.5 pattern on a 14" rim ?
Trailer rims are typically zero offset. Car rims are not zero offset. Old ford ranger with base rims is only thing Ican think of that is 14". Trailer tire on a brand new rim in 14" sizes is usually under $100, not worth screwing with car parts that won't fit right.
Okay, do you have any boat salvage yards in your vicinity? If so, they will certainly have such a rim. Check around for one and see. Remember, even WalMart sells them with tires mounted as well. JMHO!
Just checked Tractor Supply has a 14" on 5 -4.50 - $40. w/ no tire. Not bad. Still going to ck the salvage yard first. Its just for a spare so does not have to be fancy.
Do you understand what "zero", "positive" and "negative" offset means? Using the wrong wheel can cause the tire to rub the fender or the tire may rub the spring depending on which incorrect offset you have.
Yup, that's the way to go! Saw the one I need at our Tractor Supply for $39.95 yesterday. Probably go back today and buy it. Thanks for everyones input on this subject!
