Sorry but I just couldn't see where to place this because of my question.
I was just checking iboats for parts (dont need anything) and since I own a Mariner I went to the Merc outboard section.
Its been 13 years since I left the marine business.
We always had parts books for different makes.
IE Johnson, Merc, Force etc.
I just happened to look for a upper main bearing. (no reason) other than to see how iboats works and to check their parts.

Below is what I got.

I think its a great idea but Ive never seen OEM part numbers using Merc/OMC/CRUSADER

So my two part question is: When and why did this start?

Description
Replaces OEM part #

* MERCURY MARINE 392-806529A1
* MERCURY MARINE 38547
* MERCURY MARINE 32193A2
* CRUSADER 37068
* MERCURY MARINE 392-806529A1
* MERCURY MARINE 38547
* MERCURY MARINE 32193A2
* OMC 915735

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand the question. Seems to me you found an aftermarket part that corresponds to all the manufacturer's part numbers on your list...that's been going on ever since there have been aftermarket parts...

I'm a little confused too. When did they start using part numbers? Mercury has been stamping the part number into just about everything for just about forever.

Sorry guys
Looks like I was about as clear as mud!
I'm used to only getting merc for merc replacement parts.
OMC for OMC etc etc
This was the first time I got a listing like this.
Guess Im really behind the times.

* CRUSADER 37068
* MERCURY MARINE 32193A2
* OMC 915735

It will fit 27 brands of electric motor also and most anything that uses that size bearing :)
