Hello,

I am new to boating, I just bought a 1992 Sea Pro.

There is an air vent on the side of the boat that is attached to the fuel fill hose.

While filling occasionally a small amount of fuel comes out of this vent, However my indicator of when the tank is full is by fuel rushing out of this vent ?!

as of now I have been filling up on the road, I am nervous to fill on the water because I don't want this spill of gas gong in the water ??

Is this normal?
is this vent working correctly

Thank you for the help

It's normal, but not good, if you are filling it all the way. You should try to leave a little room in your fuel tanks to allow for expansion of the fuel in hot weather. IN other words, try not to fill your tank all the way. Listen for the gurgle as the tank starts to fill and then stop filling.

Alternatively, there is a device you can buy that attaches to the vent temporarily as you are filling, and it will capture any overflow.

I have a 1990 Sea pro 180CC and it does the same thing. I can put the gas nozzle in in opposite direction and it is not as bad. As said before there is a device that will catch the overflow. When the boat is full it doesn't take me long to burn through the first gallon or two to keep it below the vent level.

As you fuel, hold your hand over the fuel vent and take notice that air comes out the vent. As soon as air stops coming out of the vent, STOP fueling.

Get the "fuel whistle".
It works!
