After I have been running the engine on land with the muffs on it, I was curious if it is possible to turn the water off too soon after you have killed the engine.

For instance: Let's say I am setting idle, the engine is at normal operating temps, and when I am done...I kill the engine.
Is it OK to instantly turn off the water hose/flow to the engine, or should I let the water run a little longer?

Just curious...this is something I was never taught.

Thanks!
Shawn

Hi, Shawn.

First: Do not set the idle on muffs. There is no back pressure on the exhaust system. Your idle will be off when she is in the water.

You can turn off the water as soon as the engine is shut off. That is when the water pump stops.

Good luck. :)

didn't even think of that!

I didn't really set the idle, I basically adjusted the throttle linkage today....so that it would idle with the throttle totally off/closed.
Didn't touch the carb settings...

Thanks for the input though!

Shawn
