Hello all, never posted down here but I have been thinking.......Last year my dealer could never get my idle "perfect"(if that exists). They told me they would warm it up in the shop and then adjust, but it always seemed a little to high or to low. SO is the best time to adjust it when engine is max normal operating temp or a little under that?
As stated boat is a 2010 Bayliner 175 with mercruiser 3.0.
Also is there a step by step guide, possibly with photos or video floating around the interwebs, on how to adjust the idle on this engine? Thanks!

Also make sure there is some preload on the throttle cable. If it's to loose the throttle plates will not always fully close when you pull the throttle back to neutral.

LMAO, adjust the idle.
Ive found, in theory, adjustment is nice. REality, with a half a dozen cables in the system, and just as many linkage sets, getting the 'exact' idle this time wont mean the 'exact' idle next time.
if it starts easy, stays running, doesnt slam into gear, warms up and runs proper, doesnt stall going into or out of gear, then we are happy and call it a done deal.

Are you referring to the idle mixture, or the idle speed?
The idle speed must be set after the engine is warmed up. Approx 10 minutes. This is due to you having the TKS carburator.
The carb does not have a choke, but an enrichment valve that replaces the choke, which is why the engine has to be completely warmed up for any adjustments.

Here is some other info on the carb.
