when to paint or gel coat

hello everyone kinda new here have read topics for a year or so relly great stuff. need some help when should i gel or should i paint . i have a 1991 bayliner capri minor spider cracks on top of stern and bow some on the starboard sides not many ( marine tex) ? should i regel it or paint it and what paint is the best? im just painting it white. also do i need a primer if i paint. and is the polyester i use in my stone shop the same as the polyester resin boat factories use for their boats aprreciate the feed back thanks guys. russell

Sounds to me that gel coat paste or marine tex would do the trick. Wet sanding and polish an you're in business

what do you mean bygel coat paste or marine tex isnt that a filler. so no paint just sand it and polish . sorry not marine savy lol. thx russell
