when to switch from oil injection to pre mix on 90hp year 2000

I've got a 90hp year model 2000 made in 1999 with about 300hrs on it. I feel like I'm sitting on a time bomb with the plastic gear driven oil pump. Any rules of thumb about when would be a good time to switch to a premix? My only hesitancy with going premix is that I have a large tank. To eliminate stale gas I pump it out after its in there 6 months and use it in the car. Once I go to premix I won't have a way to get rid of old fuel.

Don't overheat the motor and don't over rev it and that gear will last a long time. They used that gear for a lot of years with no problems.

The bottom driven gear rarely fails on these motors ...that why there are no sensors except for oil level. IMO I would just keep on using as normal.

tks for the feedback. I had just noticed comments from others about going to premix so it got me to wondering. This has been a good motor for me, just trying to keep it that way.
