Looks like the water level doesn't vary much in your part of the world.

Tides usually vary between 8 and 11 feet or so.

Those are some really cool homes. After looking at them for a minute, I started thinking about how they operate.

Neither looks like the island will support a septic system. Think the waste is just discharged raw into the water?

And speaking of water, how does one get fresh water on such a small island? Can a well be drilled?

The days of discharging raw sewage are over. Now you use a holding tank when you can't do septic.

That pic is at high tide. The house has been there about 100 years, but I suppose a good direct hit hurricane would wipe it out.

This place is my friend johns summer cottage about twelve miles away from our place on the mainland.

It take them twenty minutes to get there in good weather and in weather like this they just stay put with us till it's over.

Around here you need a rock bouncer
