For all the people whose boats are winterized. When do you start to de-winterize them for the season???

Re: When...

When I decide I want to get my boat out and there isn't much risk of freezing temperatures overnight. I usually don't dewinterize until April here in Oklahoma simply because I don't enjoy boating in air temps below 50 degrees.

Re: When...

Haven't figured it out yet. This is my first winter with my boat...but i probably won't bother to de-winterize until game fish season opens.

Re: When...

mmmmm - about mid may next year. No more freezing temps. and nowadays it seems the best boating weather is in the fall. The weather in Northern Il for Sept/Oct has been better than July and August this year! Last weekend, avg temp about 80 including Friday. Tommorow 70!

When the ice goes out.
I'll drain the block until I'm sure hard freezes are over.

Re: When...

I coordinate it with the date I get from the place I rent the slip. They give me a date that I can put in the boat, so I use that as a rough guideline.
Usuall a week or two after ice out- Mid to late April.

Re: When...

Thats hard for me because its completely weather related, I just winterized my Boat last weekend and to be completely honest I don't ever remember waiting until mid october to do that so getting my baby out of her winter nap is the same watch the weather and wait for your gut to tell you its time. If I had my choice I would boat all year but I would have to figure out how to ice harden the hull and BS like that so I guess all I can tell you is its a gut feeling for me
