Long story short, one of my customers overheated his motor thus melting everything from interior exhaust bellows, driveshaft and shift cable bellows, basically everything in the bell housing that was rubber. My question is on the speedometer tube, service manual 28 says to remove the inner nut and pull the tube thru. The inner is just a smooth plastic piece with a barb fitting for the hose. The outer is a brass female insert coming out of the transom assembly that the hose goes into....I don't remember seeing this before and can not get the hose out for anything.....pulling my hair out gents and the job has now came to a stand still....your help would be appreciated!!!!

(Design-I) SN# 0M815638 & Below use's 22-814382, https://www.google.com/search?source...-814382+images ,,,,, And 22-816594A ,http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quicksilver-...-/200945614643 ...........You connect a hose on both ends.

(Design-II) SN# 0M815639 & Up, is the pull through
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...5.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0&_nkw=865391&_sacat=0........... Also on (Design-II) SN# 0M815639 & Up you would have Merc part # 22-865417, FITTING, Female Quick Connect (1 required per assembly) on the inside of the boat. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...5417+&_sacat=0

If you have the new style hose, you will have to unscrew it to pull it out/through.

If you have the old style fittings, use service manual 11 section 4B-34. http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/11/11b4r5x.pdf Heat or cut/slice the old hoses off.

What is your transom serial number that your working on?

I sent my bore scope camera in, it appears that the plastic fitting is a quick connect but haven't been able to get it of as of yet. There is a nut behind the plastic fitting. The transom serial number is 1A106257...thanks for your help in advance!

From the links that you provided the fitting would appear some what like [h=1]NOS MERCURY QUICKSILVER FITTING 22-865417[/h] I can barely get one finger on it let alone two, but I didn't feel the metal release. I'm pretty sure that it is a quick connect though because I can rotate the plastic fitting. Next question, In some of the links you provided I saw one that the lower unit hose was molded into the fitting, is that correct? Thanks again.

Glad I could try and help. That's a fairly new boat there.

Here's the parts link to the speedo fittings for you if needed. Item's 15-21
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...c=Bell+Housing.... Complete parts catalog, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selec..._nbr=880951002

At the stern drive, you should have yellow connector like this, http://www.ebay.com/itm/MerCruiser-S...-/281215477075 It's not molded in if that's the one your asking about.

If your asking about this one, then yes it's molded in and should be the one your working on. https://www.google.com/search?q=8653...ng%3B374%3B276.........

You will need to get the quick release (I know:rolleyes:) off in order to remove/unscrew the molded fitting with hose like in the link. If you look at the threaded fitting in the photo real close, you can see the red 567 Loctite Mercruiser applies already for you so all you have to do is screw it on/into the transom assembly to 110 lb.in..

Service manual 39 page 4B-60 has more detail. It says install speedometer hose through the threaded hole of the gimbal housing. Hand-start the quick connect fitting into the gimbal housing torque the quick-connect fitting to 110 lb.in.. PS, there's one thing I've learned about service manual 28, use # 39 for more detailed info, between the two, you will get it figured out.;) lol.:)
