Where can I buy this?

I need help. Is there a company or a site where I can purchase a steering cable "drum" that you would find on a cable-pulley steering "column" or the entire steering assembly? I have seen a few on ebay but the final bids on some of these are pricey. I'm not looking to "restore" a classic, so it doesn't amount to a hill of beans whether or not it's original. I feel as though a company somewhere out there has to make reproductions or replacements. I'd appreciate any help with tracking it down.

what boat and motor combination do you have? yes they are pricey, and not available except used. you have a personal message.

Since you mentioned that your not interested in restoring a "classic", would installing a modern type rotary helm with a cable be a viable option?

The boat is a 1956 Arkansas Traveler with the fiberglass top removed and the motor is a 1969 Merc 200 20hp. I have everything I need for the pulley system except this portion of the steering. So, it's almost like I feel the pulley system HAS to be put in. I know the NFB rack 'n' pinion would be great but part of this is a "hobby" and I just have something to prove to myself.
