so i was taking my boat to the lake for the first time this season and i decided to check the oil. it was a dark brown color but was exactly where it was on the dipstick when i changed it last year.

throwing caution to wind, i ran it on the lake for about 1/2 and hour and noticed some steam coming out of the engine/carb area (didn't get a good peek).

i checked the oil again and it was at the same level and looked like good oil.

what happened to the nasty brown stuff?

Re: where did my milky oil go?

After getting to operating temp, it boiled out of the oil. Under load, the oil will get a lot hotter than the engine, and the moisture boils away.

Milky oil happens a lot, especially in places with high humidity or rainfall. Especially to those that start there engine one a week during the winter thinking it helps. What it actually does is warms the engine up slightly, then gets shut off which causes condensation. A few times of this during the winter and you can see why it would be a little milky. After a good run and some real heat, it's all dried out and happy again.
