Hi Guys

I am re-installing a Cobra 5.0L engine on a rebuilt boat (see resto link in my signature) and cannot find where the ground straps on the transom plate connect to.

I cant figure the large end of the black insulated wire, and the open end of the stainless strap.

I read the black wire attaches to the steering....but where? Seems to be nothing that meets the size of the hole. And I am just baffled by the stainless strap.

Basically I am looking for homes for the loose ends of if the cables shown here;

Thanks in advance
Chris

Thanks MRS for the attempt here. Appreciate this.

It looks like there are a number of variations on the transom plates.

What I found over the last few hours is that the stainless strap at the top goes to the steering arm. So I have that hooked up now.

I found that by Google image search of "OMC Cobra steering arm" and this came up as my clue:

There is the stainless strap. Looks like it was fused in, as it was easier for someone to cut it off to sell the arm.

So now I am down to the "black wire", as the only thing I cant figure out.

Hope someone here has a 1988 (or close enough) and have a look at where that black wire goes.

Thanks Again

Chris

Chc, was checking some stuff out and looks like it hooks up to the back of the block check it out and see if it reaches to a spot on the back of the block.

Thanks MRS i think it just reaches a bolt that ties down some hose next to a valve cover. Makes sense that it would tie to the engine.

Cheers
