Where do I begin?

1991 Evinrude 225 e225pxeic. Went out today was running fine all of the sudden engine rpm dropped to about 2500 no alarm and temp gauge was in the 130 range. Thermostats recently checked and work. Upon arrival found a small leak under the carb cover goin to the last carb on left (#5) was running out when I primed the bulb in a pressurized stream. Is this enough to bring the engine from 5200 rpm to 2500 or was it the SLOW system? I am stumped.

If it dropped to 2500 and wouldnt go anymore then it most likely went into SLOW. You have to shut it off and restart it to reset it.

Forgot to mention in my last post this happened when I noticed that I lost power as one of my battery cables came out of the lug. Would the disconnected battery play into this?

Update just checked engine out and the number 2 plug was backed out. Also when I attached the compression gauge to the same cylinder air leaked out around the sparkplug threads. Is this something that happens to older engines? Are the threads stripped out? Let me know your thoughts.

Hard to say without looking at it. Normally if it is stripped out you will see the threads, from the head, attached to the spark plug. If it is stripped, it can be repaired by a heli-coil. Alot of times a stripped spark plug thread is caused by over tightening the plug.
