Where Do I Get a 2.3l OMC Ford E.Manifold?

There seems to be allot of places to get big block exhaust manifolds, but where do you get the puny, tiny, runtty 4 banger? I have a 1988 OMC Cobra 2.3L Inline Ford 4 banger (Is Volvo the same?). Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you can find one it will be at the OMC dealer.I have tried to find after-market but I don't believe they make one.Get your wallet and your savings passbook cause it's gonna hurt.Jerry

Holy crap is right...$2800 I only paid $1500 for the boat!!! Does anyone know of something to adapt a non factory unit. I can weld.

Here is "the rub" (pun intended) with the Ford 2.3 engine. OMC only used it for a few years. Along with the 460. Same problem with both engines Exhaust manifolds and couplers. Just not enough of them around to turn a profit for the aftermarket builders.
Oh, BTW, OMC went out of buisness 10 years ago. Wonder why?

Maybe buy a 2.3 liter automobile header, drill holes & weld in bungs for water injection? Then run it thru the hull like a jet boat. I know a guy who did this to headers on his BBC. Just an idea.

I would rather pay 500 for a new one than buy some unknown manifold off of Ebay..

I noticed those 1000 dollar 4.3 OMC manifolds can be found for 500 a set now!
Man i looked forever when i owned my 4.3 Cobra and a grand was cheap.
Figures they make them after i sold the boat..

I love my outboard...

I forgot that that the 3.0l 4 banger has different motor mounts than the 2.3l motor mounts.

Heres a guy might have it i bought from him before.

His # is in there some where.

Thanks for all the feedback... To the last guy about buying a 3.0l for a little more money. I would, but that is a six cylinder, this is a Ford/OMC 4 banger.

Shisola, I dont want to dig into my pockets but might have to. Does anyone know a used parts outfit selling OMC parts?

Not really.Even if you get a used one from a boat salvage yard you are rolling the dice as to the chance its a good one or not...
If it were me i would save up the 500 and know you got a good one.
Cheaper than ruining the engine...

One summer I had a yen for a Bayliner 2850. I'm not a fan of Bayliner, but I really like the layout. It would have been a good overnighter for the family.
Anyway, every single one had a 460 that needed exhaust manifolds.

thetrub - what part of the world do you live in? I have a friend that has a Ford 4 banger in a boat. I think the block is shot, can't remember...but the whole boat could be had really really cheap. Not sure of displacement. Boat is in Millersville, MD. If this is an option for you, I can check on the details.

Reality check time:
The 3.0 IS a four cylinder engine.
Won't help you in your search for parts for an obsolete engine marinized by a defunct company, but you might as well know the truth.

Thanks for the suggestions, I live in the Detroit area, so it would be to far for the boat. I'll pull the part off in the mean time and I guess I have all winter to search for the new manifold. Anyway, I guess it's time to get the snowmobile out!!!!!!
