I just took an online political quiz that you should try. It takes less than a minute, but it will help you look at politics in a whole new way. It's the World's Smallest Political Quiz at:

www.theadvocates.org

You'll be asked just 10 questions, and then it instantly tells you where you stand politically. It shows your position as a red dot on a "political map" so you'll see exactly where you score. The most interesting thing about the Quiz is that it goes beyond the Democrat, Republican, Independent.

The Quiz has gotten a lot of praise.

The Washington Post said it has "gained respect as a valid measure of a person's political leanings."

The Fraser Institute said it's "a fast, fun, and accurate assessment of a person's overall political views."

Suite University said it is the "most concise and accurate political quiz out there."

Again, it's at: www.theadvocates.org

Live it up, have some fun, see if you land where you think you are politically.

________________________________________________

I'm right where I thought I would be and that's Libertarian. Close to center.

They had to enlarge the map for me, as I am a little left of Karl Marx.

Just kidding, I am really on the map, but barely!

Hmmm, even though I'm not a US citizen I took the test based on what happens in the UK and got the following answer:

"You are slightly to the right of Ghengis Khan and please stop visiting our website Mrs Thatcher" :D :D :D

Quite good and seemed quite accurate too ;)

Re: Where do you stand?

Do you view the questions philosophically or practically?

I bet most people who think of themselves as "conservative" aren't extreme enough to get there in this quiz.

for example: I couldn't get into the conservative camp because of these economic questions:

Let people control their own retirement; privatize Social Security
- conceptually I could get behind this - but as a practical matter - a lot of people would end up having to support their parents. Not to mention what would happen to all the pension plans that are integrated with SS if SS went away. Most if not all companies with pension plans would be forced to terminate them.

Replace government welfare with private charity
- another one I could support in theory - but in reality it would just mean more homeless & panhandlers & crime in the streets. Okay that's a cynical view of society - I could be wrong.

Cut taxes and government spending by 50% or more
- too extreme!

And here's a good one
There should be no laws regarding sex for consenting adults
- I don't care or even wanna know what y'all are doing - but I answered D cause I don't think prostitution should be legal.

maybe the "centrist" region is too big?

Take the results as you may, the polL was issued by an advocacy group promoting self government. IE. libertarian, I think based on the questions you could be made to be anywhere on the political spectrum.

Re: Where do you stand?

I agree with jgregory. The questions are loaded, where the emotional response is just not workable, either way. That favors the pragmatic Libertarian.

The science of wording polls and quizzes to get the response you want is very advanced.

I'll bet if we played with the wording of the questions enough we could all become either right wing radicals or bleeding heart liberals.

Well, I know where I stand and I don't need someone else to tell me where that is. :)

Re: Where do you stand?

How People Have Scored

Centrist 30.22 %

Right (Conservative) 7.54 %

Libertarian 34.80 %

Left (Liberal) 18.82 %

Statist (Big Government) 8.63 %
It would seem by there standards, the Libertarians should win the next election. :)

Re: Where do you stand?

I was right were I thought I would be. Liberal, close to Centrist.
I do agree with jgregory and JB, this 'survey' was setup so most people would score Libertarian. The questions are too simplistic.
