I love this site and you have all taught me a lot, but I read of trim gauges, water pressure gauges, and temp gauges. Why do they all go. I have a fuel, tach, speed, and voltage gauge, and no more room on the dash. Where to all these gauges go? Do you just decide to stick with the original number and loose the ones that aren't as important? And which ones are the most important?

Well, you dont have to have a trim indicator, you can just feel the boat really...
I'd would not let go the temp gauge.

There are also gauges that has multiple functions attached.

If I were designing a new dash I would include:

Tachometer
Volt meter for condition of charging & battery
Cooling water temperature
Fuel
Water pump pressure

Optional:

Speedo - usually useless
Trim - Often does not work + use your eyes

Don' need no stinkin' speedometer. Got GPS.
Don' need no stinkin' voltmeter. Got sonar that reads battery voltage.
Don' need no stinkin' fuel guage, It's on the tank.

Need tach, temp and something to fill the holes where the stuff I don' need would go. :D

That's right, JB. My fishfinder reads speed, along with my GPS, reads volts, water temp and I can peek back at the fuel tank to see how much I have. But I do have a fuel gauge that was already there....Of course, the Tach is a must have.
