I tried to do what I was told was a simple fix to replace a thrust bushing in my Johnson 15 hp outboard. When I pulled out the housing containing the bushing, the prop shaft came with it. Can I re-insert it without causing damage? The most important question is finding out where the small spring and single ball bearing came from (and where it goes back), that I found lying in the bottom of the unit when I went to re-insert the propo shaft. I had hoped to get into the water this weekend, but local repair gurus can't help me for two weeks. Any words of wisdom available? Desperate!<br />

Not this will help much but you should invest in a manual for you engin type.
